River Arts Director Lindsey Giese Zooms with Optimists

On May 6, Lindsey Giese talked with the Optimist Club via Zoom. She talked about many of the activities that River Arts Inc. is carrying on virtually via technology. In April, they conducted an on-line art sale and May 6-12 an on-line jewelry sale, both with works from artists featured at the River Arts on Water Gallery in Prairie du Sac. Other activities include artist and RAI board member interviews, the Craft Corner with activities provided by art gallery manager Kristina Coopman, and Art Smarts which are artists sharing videos ranging from patching drywall to hanging art. Giese hosts a Facebook Watch Party during which she shares information and the stories behind well-known musicals. Social Saturdays, which before the pandemic hit was a time to get together to color and socialize at the Gallery, has now gone virtual and usually features an interview with a community member. If one goes to the RAI website, there are many more opportunities such as the ability to see a video of the Rising Stars concert featuring SPSD high school students. Giese also shared information on RAI’s concert series for 2020-21 at the River Arts Center celebrating the “Best of the Best” of the 20 years since the RAC opened. However, this information in not yet available for the general public so stay tuned for Giese’s eventual release of that schedule! For now, the Optimist Club is meeting via Zoom on the first and third Wednesday mornings at 7 am.
