COVID-19 cases decline, but so does testing

As new COVID-19 cases continue to drop, so is statewide testing. Since a peak in November, testing volume has dropped from about 45,000 per day to 20,000 per day. Sauk County experts have warned the falling positive COVID-19 cases may be a result of the reduced testing, and not lower incidence of the virus in the community. Current testing levels are at the same level as they were in September.

In the past week, Sauk Prairie as a whole recorded five new cases, all in the Village of Prairie du Sac. The area within the boundaries of the school districted added 12 new cases.

In the Black Earth and Mazomanie area, there were only three new cases, all in the Town of Mazomanie. Within the boundaries of the Wisconsin Heights School District, there were two new cases.

The Wisconsin Heights School District recorded to new cases.
