Sauk Prairie Optimist Club celebrates 60 years


On August 4th at Marion Park in Prairie du Sac, the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club celebrated their 60th Anniversary of becoming an Optimist International club with a picnic catered by Riviera Bowl and Pizzeria. Both the Wisconsin Optimist Club President, Maxine Lane, and Optimist Lieutenant Governor, Fred Dorn, spoke and shared in the presentation of awards along with emcee, SP Optimist Club President, Bart Mauch. Past Presidents were honored and special guests, former members and Presidents Haakon Carlson, Bruce Koch, and Larry Pakyz were present to be recognized. Citations for Milly and Woody Zantow were given to Cheryl Zantow, an Optimist member and their daughter-in-law. Member Jeff Boll and his father, Ken, were honored as two generations of members. Lenard, Dwight and Joy Pulsfus were recognized as the Pulsfus family has had a SP Optimist member since inception. Special recognition went to Shari Diehl, the organizer of the event and to Diane Shaw for her decorations and raffles held that evening. Governor, Fred Dorn, smile after the plaque recognizing the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club’s 60th Anniversary was presented on August 4 at the Club’s 60th Celebration at Marion Park.
