On Friday, June 17 at VFW Park in Prairie du Sac, the Friends of the Lower Wisconsin (FLOW) held a “field trip” to see the fish in the lower Wisconsin River. Timothy Parks, Dr. John Lyons and several local DNR staff shocked fish below the Prairie du Sac Dam. The showed the fish to the gathering, explaining the biology, ecology, and conservation issues surround each species. FLOW’s mascot is Flo, the giant paddlefish, who proudly floats down the river at events. Pictured here, at right, is Flo, then you’ll find some DNR staff showing off a Paddlefish, identifiable by its long, flattened nose. Flo the mascot also happens to be a paddlefish.
