Baldwin visits Middleton, jobs coming to Baraboo


Tom Crabb, General Manager Space Operations at Sierra Space in Middleton, explains the different parts of a rocket engine to Sen. Tammy Baldwin last week. Baldwin toured the Middleton facility on Aug. 12 after helping secure a $20.2 million dollar contract for the company, which co-invested in the project with the Air Force Research Laboratory. The money will be used for research and development of the of the Advanced Upper Stage Rocket Engine (VR35K-A) and testing facilities. The work will be conducted in Baraboo with completion expected in 2024 and will bring about 100 jobs to the area. The technology will replace outdated rocket motors developed in the mid 1900s.
