Sauk Prairie Solar Schools continues to fundraise for roof mounted solar in district

A citizens group called Sauk Prairie Solar Schools was formed approximately one and one-half years ago. The goal of the group was to place solar panels on the Sauk Prairie High School and Bridges Elementary roofs.  Working with the School Board and the Superintendent, their charge was to raise one-third of the cost of the solar panels. The district would pay for another third and the remainder would come from the Inflation Reduction Act. Sauk Prairie Solar Schools set out to raise money immediately by applying for grants, seeking donations from individuals, clubs and businesses, selling items at the Winter Market, selling baked goods and craft items at Holly Jolly in December, conducting a sponsor a panel campaign and more. The group recently received a large donation from the Culver’s Foundation for $20,000 and are extremely appreciative of this generous support. In addition, the Foundation will match $1 for $1 donations up to an additional $20,000 received from donors by November 1. You are invited to join us in raising the matching grant amount. If you wish to make a donation for this match, you may send a check to the Sauk Prairie School District with ‘Solar’ in the memo line (this makes it a charitable donation for income tax purposes).  Please join us in this quest! We have raised enough money to start Phase One this Fall which is the high school. Now we are well on our way to funding Phase Two, Bridges Elementary.
