Myneighborinneed.org/saukprairie is a website that provides local citizens a way to ask for help from their community and a way for community members to give back in a dignified way. Whether you request a need or fulfill a need, all personal information (including all names) will remain anonymous.

Historical Society sets up new Spring display


Take a look back at Spring in Black Earth with the Black Earth Historical Society! A new Spring ~ Easter ~ St. Patrick’s display is up and ready for viewing from outside the windows at the Black Earth Children’s Museum. Featuring photos of Spring in Black Earth in the early 1900s, vintage Easter and St. Patrick’s Day postcards, plus classic and reproduction Easter decorations and other memorabilia. The display is lighted for nighttime viewing as well. Be sure to stop by to see the entire display, and watch for future exhibits from the BEHS.

Gary Ballweg, local veteran, served with pride

Gary Ballweg graduated from Wisconsin Heights High School in 1972 and enlisted in the United States Air Force. After Basic Training at Lackland Air Base at San Antonio, Texas, Airman Ballweg continued there with technical training and became certified in Law Enforcement and Security. Assigned to the Law Enforcement section at K.I.

Meyer is Middle Level Leader, Grinstead is Student of the Month

Carmynn Meyer is the Sauk Prairie Optimist Club’s Middle Level Leader for February.  She is an eighth grader and the daughter of Tom Meyer and Andrea Sohl. She was nominated by her Spanish teacher.

Elizabeth (Libby) Hasheider, Sauk Prairie Optimist SPHS January Student of the Month, was nominated by her teachers and FFA advisors. Libby is the daughter of Josh and Jennifer Hasheider and is a senior at SPHS.  She received her award at the January 20 Optimist Club Zoom meeting.

Merrimac students make valentines for Veterans

Valentines for Veterans have been sealed and sent! Students at Merrimac Community School teamed up to send 177 cards filled with kindness to all of our local veterans from VFW post 7694!
