Lions hear about Sycamore Center from Ramthun


The November 15, 2023 meeting of the Sauk Prairie Lions Club welcomed John Ramthun of 6:8. He spoke about their new project, Sycamore Center. They are looking at the empty Quartz building in Sauk City to remodel into affordable apartments and a family shelter. Also included would be community space with day care, classrooms and multi-purpose rooms. Many local services are looking at being included in this space also. Through several fund-raising events, they donate back 100% to the community including eye exams, glasses and hearing aids to those in need, the food pantry, 6:8, Good Neighbor Clinic, Kids Ranch, Caring Tree, Fire on the River, Hope House, Sauk Prairie School Scholarships, Lions Camp for the Disable, Diabetes Awareness, to name a few. The Sauk Prairie Lions hold their monthly meetings every third Wednesday of the month at the Prairie House in Prairie du Sac. Bald eagles released, Bald Eagle Watching Days coming up

Editor's note: All events at the River Arts Center and Tripp Museum for Bald Eagle Watching Days have been cancelled for 2024 due to weather.

Lyn Instefjord retires from District One after 30 years


After 30 years as a District One volunteer EMT, Lyn Instefjord of Mazomanie is hanging up her stethoscope to enjoy a well-earned retirement. In her time at District One EMS, Instefjord has served as EMT, ambulance driver and training officer as well as volunteer membership Vice President, President and Secretary--not to mention organizing and providing delicious food for countless member gatherings. Thank you for three decades of unwavering dedication to saving lives and congratulations on your newfound free time, EMT extraordinaire!

Clara Weiss, of Prairie du Sac, wins 4-H Key Award

Sauk County 4-H is proud to announce that Clara Weiss has been selected to receive the Wisconsin 4-H Key Award.  She is the daughter of Cory and Sondra Weiss of Prairie du Sac.

Facing a deepening opioid crisis like the rest of the United States, Public Health Sauk County has partnered with non-profit Start Healing Now to place an Overdose (first) Aid Kit in Vintage Brewery in Sauk City. The kit includes Narcan as well as other supplies to use in case of an emergency.

Sauk City and Roxbury Knights of Columbus complete $50,000 in donations to local groups

The Knights of Columbus Council from Sauk City and Roxbury recently completed $50,000 in donations to three very important local capital campaigns.  The Knights raised the money through their various annual fund-raising events, like Country Breakfast, Pork Chop Dinner, Brat Stand, and their annual food stand at the State Cow Chip festiva

Trivia Night

 

The Friends of the Black Earth and Mazomanie libraries are hosting a Trivia Night on Saturday, February 3rd, 2024, at Base Camp in Mazomanie. Doors open at 6:30 and trivia begins at 7. $15 per person in advance at either library, $20 at the door. Includes a light supper. Beverages available for purchase.
