Village of Prairie du Sac electric utility earns award

The Village of Prairie du Sac’s electric utility has earned a Safety Achievement Award from the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin (MEUW).  On April 29, 2021, MEUW held its Electric Operations Expo in Baraboo, Wis., and presented the award to the utility.

Mazo sees progress with bandstand

The Village of Mazomanie has hired a new clerk to replace current Clerk Sue Dietzen, who is retiring soon. Angela Volkman has been hired. The Village has also begun looking for a replacement for officer Kyle Keller, who was promoted to Sargent.

Prairie du Sac purchases truck, seeks electric rate increase

The Village of Prairie du Sac approved the purchase of a 2020 Ram 2500 Power Wagon Crew Cab from Kayser Chrysler for the cost of $50,504, as a replacement for its current truck, at their April 13 meeting.

Black Earth Village Presidency up for grabs

Change comes to local government, usually slowly, and usually a person or two at a time. Black Earth is seating four new elected officials in this upcoming election. A new village president will replace Troy Esser as well, the third president in three years.

Mazo still trying to fix flood issues

The Village of Mazomanie is still making efforts to ease future flooding. At their February 9 meeting, the board elected to pursue grants for the construction of a diversion channel  to allow water to flow freely through the floodway during heavy rain events.

Sauk City gave another extension to the development group seeing to build a hotel on Phillips Boulevard at their February 23 meeting. After several extensions and delays, the board members said they wanted more clarity--and an end to the extension.
