Senior Life Center celebrates 4th deficiency free survey

Reedsburg Area Senior Life Center received excellent marks from the State of Wisconsin for the fourth year in a row.

Inspectors found the nursing home to be deficiency free. The facility also achieved a five-star rating from the United States Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS).

Run raises nearly $12k for nursing students


People of all ages and skill levels showed up for Madison College’s Celebrate a Nurse this year. The annual fundraiser brought in nearly $12,000 for local nursing scholarships. (Photo provided by Madison College)

Madison College’s recent Celebrate a Nurse 5k and 1-mile walk brought in $11,972 for nursing scholarships.

This year’s event had record turnout at 234 registrants. Among them were 80 Madison College alumni, including 50 graduates of the college’s nursing program.

Sacred Heart’s next mobile pantry will take place May 22 at the Sacred Heart Church parking lot in Reedsburg.

Distribution will start at 4 p.m. and continue while supplies last.

River Valley School Board honors local journalists


The River Valley School Board highlighted the devotion and efforts of Linda Schwanke and Judy Ettenhofer at their May board meeting community spotlight. The spotlight award recognizes community members who have served above and beyond and beyond their role for having a positive impact on River Valley staff and students.  Schwanke and Ettenhofer have covered years’ worth of topics and events for the River Valley School Board and district. “We are very thankful for their news coverage, conversation, and balanced representation with our board, staff, and student body.,” Superintendent Loren Glasbrenner said, adding “Schwanke and Ettenhofer each are respected and appreciated for their work and contributions.  They each have helped to make River Valley a better place.”  Pictured from left to right are Schwanke, Emily Beck, board member, Ettenhofer and Glasbrenner.
