The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled on Becker v. Dane County on July 8, a case which bought into question Public Health of Madison and Dane County’s (PHMDC) ability to issue a public heath order for the safety of the public.
“You have the right to remain silent” has been a cornerstone of the Miranda Warning in the US since the Supreme Court ruled in favor of Ernesto Miranda in the 1966 case of Miranda v. Arizona. The court then ruled that suspects should be informed of their rights when accused of committing a crime.

It’s already time for Fair season.
Sauk County’s will be held July 11-17 at the Fairgrounds in Baraboo. As always, entry will be free for those who walk through the gate. Otherwise, parking is $5 per day or $20 for the season.

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) today unveiled a new feature for Wisconsin’s 511 travel information system. Accessible online at 511wi.gov or via the 511 Wisconsin smartphone app, motorists can now view live video feeds of travel conditions via traffic cameras throughout Wisconsin.
Shellie Benish, Administrator/Clerk/Treasurer for the Village of Black Earth, and Wisconsin Certified Municipal Clerk, announced her candidacy to represent the 81st Assembly District last week. Benish will face fellow Republican Bob Wood in the August 9th primary.
Faith Fehlen from New Heights Church visited the Mazomanie village board on June 14th and updated them about the future of “The Grove,” as the facility located in the former Mazomanie elementary School Building will be called.
The search for Parker Kruse that began last July 3 when he drowned in the Wisconsin River ended on Saturday. Parker was found near the Port Andrew boat landing on Steamboat Island by canoers from Illinois. The canoers heard about Parker’s loss when on vacation last summer.
