As 2023 comes to an end, we count down the top stories of the year.

2023 was a year of change for the Wisconsin Heights School District.

The holidays will have a little more meaning this year in Sauk Prairie, as December 31st has been proclaimed Cliff Thompson Day by the villages of Sauk City, Prairie du Sac, and the Sauk Prairie School District.

What’s in a name? WisDOT’s “Wis 60 Project”

WisDOT held an informational meeting about the upcoming Water Street construction project through Sauk City and Prairie du Sac. The project will be done in two stages ion 2027-28. It will be a reconstruction of 2.9 miles of pavement.

Sauk Prairie Healthcare earns “A” grade for hospital safety

Sauk Prairie Healthcare earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog that sets standards for excellence in patient care.

6:8 pitches Sycamore Center to Sauk City Plan Commission

John and Sarah Ramthun’s dream inched closer to reality on November 28th when they got to share their vision for the Sycamore Center with the Sauk City Plan Commission and the public at large.

State gun-deer season begins November 18

DNR statistics show that Sauk County’s herd has been growing steadily since 2012 in forests. Since then, the deer population has risen from an estimated 18,700 to 34,400. Current prognostics show the herd could max out at 35,000 this year, despite hunting.

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi looks back on career, forward to retirement

Dane County Executive Joe Parisi announced his retirement last month and that his last day will be May 1, 2024, marking 13 years in the elected position.

Parisi said that he has accomplished the things he set out to do and feels comfortable in his decision to retire.
