County Y in Mazo slated for construction


Dane County’s transportation budget includes nearly $1 million in resurfacing for County Y from Highway 78 east to County KP.

Dane County’s $592 million budget for next year includes transportation improvements in Mazomanie Township.

Highway Y will be resurfaced from Highway 12 to County KP, at a cost of $860,000. The County will spend $390,000 to resurface Highway Y from Highway 78 to Highway 12.

On Oct. 22, over 50 people attended the Black Earth Creek Watershed Association (BECWA) fall meeting, held at the Cross Plains Fire Station.

County board moves forward with Hemlock Park recovery

Car stolen in Mazo, police looking for suspect

The Dane County Sheriff’s Office has released photos of a suspect in several car break-ins in the Village of Mazomanie Sunday night., Oct. 20. Residents on Scott and Exchange Streets awoke Monday morning to find their unlocked vehicles had been rifled through, and a gray 2014 Toyota Rav4 was stolen from a home on Scott Street.

Detectives from the Dane County Sheriff’s Office are working with surrounding counties and Wisconsin’s Department of Criminal Investigation, to locate Annastasia Evans. Annastasia was last seen on May 4, 2019, and was traveling in a cream-colored full-size sedan.

Tentative arson charges for Mazo Township incident

A Blue Mounds man is being tentatively charged with attempted arson, after an Oct. 17 incident on County Y in Mazomanie Township.

According to the Dane County Sheriff’s Department, Michael A. Glynn, 54, was creating a disturbance and destroying property around 7 p.m. He left and was found nearby in his vehicle. Glynn was intoxicated.

Another flood damaged home demolished with controlled burn in Mazomanie

Last week, the Mazomanie Fire Department conducted a controlled burn of the old Segebrecht house at the northwest corner of 4th Street and State Street. The house was damaged in last August’s floods.
