Grand Avenue students learn about maple syrup

Grand Avenue 4th graders went to the Mackenzie Center in Poynette and learned about maple syrup making. The lesson included information on maple trees, how and when to tap the trees. Students tasted the sap right from the tree.

Grand Avenue 4th graders made a living map of Wisconsin recently. The students wore different colors to represent the five land regions of Wisconsin. Black is Western Uplands, white is Eastern Ridges and Lowlands, red is Central Plain, green is Northern Highlands, and blue is Lake Superior Lowlands. Each year they model the regions of the state.

Pi Day fun at Heights


7th grade Wisconsin Heights math kicked off their upcoming geometry units by celebrating Pi Day on March 14th (3/14). The students were given a breakout box in which they had to research Pi and it’s significance in order to crack the codes to get into the box. When they finally cracked all of the codes, they were surprised to find Pi Day cookies made by Mrs. Meinholz and her mom in the breakout boxes.

Wisconsin Heights Prom Fashion Show happening again

Back for another year, the Wisconsin Heights Prom Fashion Show will be held on Sunday, April 16th, at 1 p.m. Anyone can attend the show, and those that do, can enter the raffle with lots of great prizes! Not only will you be entertained with the wonderful show and prizes, but there will be food and drinks available, too! 

Play pet care is still important pet care in Sauk Prairie


4K students at the Sauk Prairie Nursery Center were taking care of their “pets” during dramatic playtime recently. There’s always a line of students brining their turtles, snakes, rabbits, dogs, and fish, into get taken care of. Play areas include reception, veterinarian care, grooming (pictured here), and an x-ray lab.

Sauk Prairie School District announces $4.6 million mental health grant

Sauk Prairie School District announced their ambitious school-based mental health grant at a press conference last Tuesday, held in the empty (due to spring break) but spacious atrium at the entrance of the high school. Congressman Mark Pocan made an appearance, spoke briefly, and answered questions.

Sauk Prairie students compete in Math 24

Fourth and fifth  graders from Grand Avenue School and Merrimac Community School competed at the Regional  Math 24 Tournament, which was held on March 7 in Wisconsin Dells. All of the participants represented Sauk Prairie well, and Jack Bromley came away with a third place finish out of all of the fifth grade competitors. 

Wisconsin Heights hosting Cabaret Night

“Cabaret Night” will take place on Saturday, April 1st, from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at the Wisconsin Heights Middle/High School cafeteria. Join us for this fun family event with music, desserts, and a silent auction, with all proceeds benefiting the music department and senior music scholarships.

Wisconsin Heights bringing back Prom Fashion Show on April 16th


Back for another year, the Wisconsin Heights Prom Fashion Show will be held on Sunday, April 16th, at 1 p.m. Anyone can attend the show, and those that do, can enter the raffle with lots of great prizes! Not only will you be entertained with the wonderful show and prizes, but there will be food and drinks available, too! The Prom Fashion Show is a great opportunity for the class of 2023 to raise money for their prom, class trip, and graduation. During the fundraiser, seniors will be modeling beautiful suits and dresses. The Emcee’s hosting the show will give descriptions of each outfit along with some personal information about each student. This year, the theme of the Prom Fashion Show is Masquerade, corresponding with this year’s prom theme. With glitzy backdrops, it will surely be a magical show. The Wisconsin Heights High School’s Senior class wants you to join them for the 2023 Prom Fashion Show because it really has it all! Food, prizes, and fun! Most importantly, it will be an entertaining show that you won’t forget. The fashion show is being held at Wisconsin Heights High School in the cafeteria. Doors open at 12 p.m. and general admission is $8. VIP tables seat 8 people and are available for $120, but they go fast so grab your table before it’s too late. They offer a great view of the show. Wisconsin Heights 4th graders match shoes to novel’s characters


4th graders at Wisconsin Heights celebrated the end of the Holes novel study and designed shows to represent a character from the book. Students used symbols and colors to show their knowledge of the characters’ personalities. Stanley, Zero, Kate Barlow, and The Warden all have some new footwear.
