Above the Line


The May Above The Line theme was “Citizenship.” The students listed below received awards on Friday, May 13, from their classroom teacher or staff who felt that they are an individual that demonstrates citizenship in and out of the classroom. Merrimac trout taste sweet, sweet, freedom


Students at Merrimac Community School released their 100 trout into a local stream as part of a project that’s been going on since January. Their mission was to leave no trout left behind! Since January students have solved water quality problems, cared for, and learned about trout.

Merrimac teacher wins award for garden

Merrimac Community School and First Grade Teacher Jamie Christianson, have been awarded $2,000 by the Wisconsin Retired Educators’ Association (WREA) Foundation. The award was given for the school’s “MCS Community Garden” project.

Heights students make it to Nationals in National History Day contest

Students in Kathy Haig’s sophomore research class at Wisconsin Heights Middle and High School recently competed in the National History Day® (NHD) Contest. The regional and state events were held virtually in Madison, WI in February and April, and the national event will be held virtually from June 12-18 in College Park, Maryland.

Sauk Prairie to host teacher from China to teach Mandarin or Arabic

Through a competitive application process, the Sauk Prairie School District has been selected for the 2022-2023 Teachers of Critical Languages Program. The Teachers of Critical Languages Program (TCLP) is designed to increase and strengthen the study and acquisition of Mandarin Chinese and Arabic language in U.S. schools.

Bridges Bolt a fun run for everyone
