Sauk Prairie Ambulance makes dramatic educational-only visit to school


Sauk Prairie Ambulance paid an educational only visit to Sauk Prairie Middle School as part of a 7th grade English Language Arts “Survival Unit.” Students were willing to try on the EMT gear and Ms. Miller-Wolf was willing to be “treated” by the first responders.

Public Safety Day at Wisconsin Heights

The Mazomanie Fire Department, Dane County District One EMS, and the Dane County Sheriff’s Department for put on their first ever Public Safety Day at Wisconsin Heights last week.

Chamber unveils Child Care proposal to Sauk Prairie School Board

At their October 9th meeting, the Sauk Prairie School District heard from Tywana German, who presented a report created by the consultant the Chamber hired to draft a business plan for a potential childcare center that would be run by the school district.

Superintendent Wright lends a hand at food service

Last week Sauk Prairie School District celebrated National School Lunch Week.  Superintendent Jeff Wright visited the schools to lend a hand as our dedicated Food Service employees served lunch. School lunches also featured apples from Baraboo’s Ski Hi Fruit Farm for the Harvest of the Month celebration.

Heights second graders spend the day in PJs

Ms. Gullickson’s second grade class celebrated earning 150 gotcha tickets with a PJ and stuffie day last week. During reading time, they were able to read around the room in a comfy spot with their stuffie and/or friend. It was a huge hit with the students.

Wisconsin’s Heights English teacher Andy Cole brought Edgar Allen Poe’s “The Masque of the Red Death” to life for his classes on Friday the 13th last week. The class are finishing up a short story unit and have happened upon one of Poe’s best selections.

Sauk Prairie School District’s gifted partake in enrichment activity


“Eye-opening, inspirational, uplifting, strength-building, and challenging positive experience,” are just some of the words that have been used by Sauk Prairie Middle School seventh graders who have attended Leadership Day at Expeditions Unlimited. On September 28th, another group of future leaders experienced this challenging but fun day. The Central Wisconsin Talented and Gifted Consortium sponsors several enrichment activities throughout the year to help meet the needs of exceptional students in the many areas of giftedness. These students were chosen for their leadership potential by a process which was completed last spring by their classroom teachers. The students pictured below joined participants from Montello, Reedsburg, Wisconsin Dells, Wild Rose, Poynette, Nekoosa, Fall River, and Adams Friendship in completing several challenge activities, led by the staff at Expeditions Unlimited. The challenges involved extensive planning, teamwork, and outside the box thinking. Julie Breunig and Kathy Bruno, from the Sauk Prairie Schools Gifted and Talented Department organized this Leadership Day and accompanied the students. Merrimac’s littlest students get hands on with farming


Sauk Prairie’s youngest learners may be small in size but they have an enormous amount of curiosity and a huge love of learning. Merrimac Community School 4K students enjoyed exploring the large combine and learning about how farmers use this equipment. Thanks to Thompson Farms for sharing their equipment and knowledge with our students.
