Emily Van Riper and Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team dropped a 10-0 decision to Cuba City in a WIAA Division 4 regional semifinal on May 23.
The Vanguards finished the season 9-15.
“Overall, this predominately young team came a long way this year as our last five games before the season ender we won or took to extra innings,” Heights manager Scott Wood said. “Having 11 freshmen on the team that took half the starting roster looks like there could be some good softball in the future, but it all depends on how many of them commit themselves to getting stronger and better before next season. As always, we hope for the best.”

Expectations for Greysen Dunn have always been high this season.
Sauk Prairie’s standout freshman golfer certainly lived up to them by not only earning a spot on varsity, but putting together a terrific regular season.
Sauk Prairie coach Andy Sherman was in his element when the Eagles hosted the WIAA Division 1 Sauk Prairie sectional track and field meet last Thursday.
When not riding herd over his boys and girls competitors, Sherman was scurrying about making sure the meet was running smoothly on the Eagles’ home track.
