Baseball Eagles win three of five

Sauk Prairie’s baseball team rebounded from a rough start last week.

The Eagles lost their first two games of the week, dropping a 12-0 decision to Waunakee on April 24 and suffering an 8-7 setback to Baraboo on April 25.

The Badger Conference is deep and talented when it comes to boys golf.

So even though Sauk Prairie finished in sixth place at an eight-team mini-meet at Monroe on April 26, the Eagles felt all right about their performance.

That’s because Sauk Prairie shot 353, one of its top scores of the season.

Pirates down Heights

Emily Van Riper and Wisconsin Heights’ girls softball team played just one game last week and dropped a 12-1 decision to Waterloo. “With a lot of freshman on this year’s team and having 17 girls, we’ve actually been having a lot of JV innings after Varsity games and JV has been doing very well,” Heights coach Scott Wood said. “Even though they usually only play three innings, they have won 80% of their contests.” Photo by Aaron Jacobus

This was necessary.

And boy, was it ever impressive.

Wisconsin Heights’ baseball team rallied past Waterloo, 6-5, on April 18 and snapped a three-game losing streak in the process.

The Vanguards improved to 4-3 on the young season and are 2-1 in the Capitol South Conference.

Baraboo tops Eagles’ tennis team

Sauk Prairie’s boys tennis team fell to Baraboo, 5-2, on April 18.

“Overall, tonight’s loss was frustrating because this was a winnable match for us,” Sauk Prairie coach Morgan Lee said. “We had multiple matches where we had some great moments, but not enough to take a set.
