Sauk Prairie’s girls tennis team had an incredibly busy week.

Here’s a recap of the Eagles’ week:

• Lodi 5, Sauk Prairie 2 — The Eagles fell to Lodi on Sept. 6.

Sauk Prairie’s girls swimming and diving team defeated Mount Horeb, 101.50-68.50, last Thursday.

The Eagles’ 200-yard medley relay team of Ava Flanagan, Kaylee Oleson, Riley Talmage and Kate Himebauch won the 200-yard medley relay.

Eagles’ XC teams shine at River Valley

Sauk Prairie’s girls cross country team had a memorable performance at the River Valley Invite last Saturday.

All of the Eagles’ runners either set new personal records or ran their fastest times of the season to help Sauk Prairie finish in ninth place at the 17-team event.

Vanguards upended by AL/SA

Camden Brown called it a “reality check”

And Wisconsin Heights’ football coach hopes it leads to better play in the future.

The Vanguards, who rolled to a 47-0 win in Week 1, failed to build on that momentum last Friday. Visiting Abundant Life/St. Ambrose scored the first 14 points of the game and toppled the Vanguards, 26-14.

MH-B holds off Eagles

The game was decided by 19 points, at first glance not much of a contest.

But the difference was a lot more nuanced than that.

The difference in Sauk Prairie’s 33-14 Badger Small Conference loss to visiting Mount Horeb/Barneveld on Friday night was a few big plays allowed on defense and one big missed opportunity on offense.

Eagles’ spikers remain perfect

They are undefeated one month into the season.

They’ve climbed to No. 6 in the latest WIAA Division 2 Wisconsin Volleyball Coaches Association poll.

And anything and everything seems possible.

NICE HANDS!

Heights spikers show improvement in loss

They are getting better every time they take the court.

And soon, Wisconsin Heights girls volleyball coach Katie Doescher believes the results will reflect that improvement.

Waterloo defeated Heights, 25-15, 24-26, 25-11, 25-21, on Sept. 1. But Doescher saw dramatic gains in her team from Week 1 to Week 2.

Heights boys place 12th at Darlington

The Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld boys cross country team finished 12th in the 15-team Darlington Invite last Saturday.

Iowa Grant won the meet with 54 points, while Fennimore (88), Mount Horeb (101), Albany (130) and Belleville (140) rounded out the top five.

The Vanguards finished with 273 points.

Eagles fall to Portage

It was all there for the taking.

A second win of the year. A big conference victory.

Once again, though, Sauk Prairie’s football team fell short.
