Heights boys earn 8th seed in postseason

Wisconsin Heights’ boys basketball team received the No. 8 seed in the WIAA Division 4 Baraboo Sectional.

The Vanguards begin the postseason by hosting ninth-seeded Cambridge on March 1 at 7 p.m. in a regional quarterfinal. If Heights wins there, it would travel to top-seeded Belleville for a regional semifinal on March 4.

Eagles head to postseason with a world of momentum

It’s been a terrific regular season for Sauk Prairie’s girls basketball team.

And now, the Eagles will try carrying that momentum into the postseason.

Sauk Prairie rolled past Oregon, 52-43, at the Badger West Conference championships last Thursday and finished the regular season with a 17-7 overall record.

Sauk Prairie earns 6th seed

Sean McGann was a happy camper Sunday night.

Sauk Prairie’s boys basketball coach believed his team would be a No. 7 or 8 seed in its WIAA Division 2 Oregon Sectional. Instead, the Eagles received a No. 6 seed from the electronic seeding process that now ranks the teams.

Next stop: state tourney

SUN PRAIRIE – The Eagle has landed.

Following back-to-back sectional wrestling appearances, Sauk Prairie junior Nolan Vils was on a mission to go one step farther in his quest for a state championship.

Swimmers exit on a high

On a blustery, winter evening, the Sauk Prairie/Wisconsin Heights boys swimming team was on fire at the Waukesha South Natatorium last Friday evening.

Hockey Eagles set for playoffs

Sauk Prairie’s co-op hockey team won two out of three games last week and wrapped up the regular season with a 15-4 record. The Eagles also went 6-4 in the Badger West Conference and finished in third place.

Gymnasts 9th at Platteville


Ava Putnam and Sauk Prairie’s girls gymnastics team finished ninth at the Platteville Invite last Saturday.

Sauk Prairie’s girls gymnastics team finished in ninth place at the 13-team Platteville Invite last Saturday.

The Eagles were also edged by Watertown, 130.915-127.775 on Feb. 8.

During the Platteville Invite, Mount Horeb finished first with 142.8250 points. The Eagles finished ninth with 126.5750 points.

Heights boys fall to Pardeeville, Marshall

The boys basketball seeds will come out this weekend.

And Wisconsin Heights certainly didn’t help itself last week.

The Vanguards dropped a 77-69 decision to Pardeeville on Feb. 8. Heights also was drilled by Marshall, 77-42, last Thursday.

Anything is possible.

That will be the message Wisconsin Heights girls basketball coach Dustan Baldassari preaches to his team the next week.

Eagles send 7 wrestlers to sectionals

Sauk Prairie’s wrestlers enjoyed a strong day at the Waunakee Regional.

The Eagles crowned one regional champion and had seven individuals advance to the Sun Prairie Sectional, which begins Saturday at 10 a.m.

Sauk Prairie’s Nolan Vils won the heavyweight championship.
