Eagles fall in state semifinals

MILWAUKEE — Knock, knock, knock.

That sound you hear is Sauk Prairie’s girls soccer team banging on the door at the WIAA Division 2 state tournament.

To date, the Eagles’ thumps have gone unanswered.

It seems inevitable, though, Sauk Prairie is going to knock that door down.

When it comes to penalty kicks, Erelyn Apel has a unique strategy.

Apel, Sauk Prairie’s standout junior keeper, doesn’t watch the eyes or body movements of her opponent.

Instead, Apel plays a few mind games with her opponents.

Dunn competes at sectionals

The WIAA Division 1 Waunakee Sectional held on May 30 had just six freshmen.

And even though Sauk Prairie’s Graysen Dunn saw his season end there, simply being one of those freshmen bodes extremely well for his future — and that of the Eagles.
