Sauk Prairie’s girls tennis team found the going rough at the Waunakee Subsectional Monday.

Quinlyn Mack, the Eagles’ top singles player, advanced to Wednesday’s Waunakee Sectional. The rest of Sauk Prairie’s players saw their seasons come to an end.

Eagles’ boys soccer team is heating up

Sauk Prairie boys soccer coach Drew Kornish will be heading to his WIAA Division 2 seeding meeting on Sunday.

And thanks to a recent hot streak, the Eagles could be poised for a solid postseason seed.

Eagles’ swimmers fall to McFarland

McFarland’s girls swimming team edged Sauk Prairie, 90-80, on Sept. 28.

The Eagles’ 200-yard freestyle relay team of Savannah Acker, Kassandra Miller, Ashley Pape and Kaylee Oleson finished first, while the quartet of Ava Flanagan, Trinity Doerre, Allyson Saladis and Riley Talmage was third.

Heights spikers second at Lodi

Wisconsin Heights’ girls volleyball team finished second at the Lodi Invite last Saturday.

The Vanguards defeated both Lodi and Markesan, before falling to Marshfield in the finals.

Vanguards keep rolling

Wisconsin Heights and the WIAA have battled the last few years about playoff eligibility for 8-man football teams.

The WIAA says if a school has a three-year enrollment average of more than 200, it’s not eligible for the postseason.

It was an enormous week for Sauk Prairie’s girls volleyball team.

Eagles’ head coach Amy Schlimgen notched her 700th career win on Sept. 30.

Sauk Prairie won the prestigious Madison Edgewood Invite last Saturday.

Alia Schlimgen was a willing participant in a secret mission.

As the daughter of Sauk Prairie girls varsity volleyball coach Amy Schlimgen, Alia knew that she wanted to make the night her mother won her milestone 700th volleyball match an extra special event.

No problem.

Eagles’ swimmers roll by Portage

Sauk Prairie’s girls swimming team cruised past Portage, 136-28, on Sept. 21.

The Eagles’ quartet of Emily VandeHey, Riley Talmage, Ashley Pape and Savannah Acker finished first in the 200-meter medley relay, while the foursome of Ava Flanagan, Trinity Doerre, Kassandra Miller and Kaylee Oleson were second. 

Sauk Prairie falls to Monona Grove

There were signs of life.

An offense that made some headway. A defense that had its moments. And a respectable performance against a high-level opponent.

Sauk Prairie’s football team still lost to Monona Grove, 35-21, last Friday. But the winless Eagles had arguably more fight than any other time in what’s become a rough year.
