Between midnight Oct. 1 and midnight Oct. 2, between three and four inches of rain fell on an area from Black Earth northwest to Sauk Prairie. These photos were taken at 11 a.m. on Oct 2., after the rain had ended.
At that time, Black Earth Creek at Black Earth was at 6.29 feet, action stage, bedlow minor flood stage. According to the National Weather Service, at that level "there is widespread flooding of lowland and agricultural land in the Black Earth area. This level is the 4 percent chance flood meaning there is a 4 percent chance in any given year of the river reaching this level."
In Mazomanie the creek was at 10.8 feet, minor flood stage, According to the National Weather Service, at that level "floodwaters affect Curtiss Street and other streets on the northeast side of Mazomanie."
Mazomanie was still under a flood warning at that time.
